London boat show – Princess Yacht 78
Its that time of year again – The London boat show and all the big boys are out in force with their latest design concepts. By design concepts I do of course mean that all the manufacturers have designed practically the exact same thing they’ve done every other year with the exception of one, which I’ll get to in a later post.
When it comes to style, for the first time I’ve been hooked away from sunseeker for a couple of really good reasons. To clarify, I’ve loved sunseekers for years and have wanted to own a predator for quite some time. I’m sure I’m not alone! The only thing I’m not too fond of at the shows is the aloof attitude that seems to surround the stand. This year having a tunnel through the private champagne lounge in order to get on board one of the larger yachts. Clearly seeing the need to keep Mr & Mrs average away from it. I’ve always believed that sunseekers really are that much better than the closest rival. This year, I was proved wrong…
Enter Princess yachts.
The level of thought and detail in these yachts really surpassed my expectations with ingenious ideas dotted around everywhere. The layout of the fly deck, the feeling of doors opening and closing, the detailing in the mechanisms, the sliding door track between inside and outside, the fact that the toilet roll holder is neatly tucked inside the basin cabinet. Absolutely everything was thought about and sitting at the helm made you feel like you are the captain of something truly special where a team of designers put their hearts into creating a thing of beauty to be admired.
This year, Princess yachts was definitely the overall show-stopper for me and I think the competition has quite a bit of catching up to do in order to get anywhere close in the near future.
